“Carl is an experienced project and digital management consultant specializing in technology and data management for Mining and Oil & Gas operations & projects with deep expertise in Digital Engineering, enabling clients to maximise the value of connected data.
With over 15 years in engineering design and asset management, he brings a passion for the potential of technology to transform capital-intensive industries.
His recent experience includes implementing a digital asset management and integration project at BHP Iron Ore within the Fixed Plant Environment, which introduced 3D Model interface capability integrated with both ERP work management and document management systems. This project brought a clear focus on business value through the remediation of over 3000 models for existing brownfield assets, while introducing Digital Engineering technologies to personnel in the field. This solution successfully highlighted safety and production risks associated with major project and complex shutdown works, engaging the entire workforce to maintain the engineering blueprint.
Carl previously served as a Digital Engineering Consultant for a large Oil and Gas Asset Owner, providing advisory services for inspection management, asset integrity and Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) solutions.
During his career, Carl has also consulted to other tier 1 owner / operators (BHP, FMG) and EPC firms (Worley, Monadelphous, Civmec, Liang O’Rourke) on digital engineering processes including technology stack advisory, data management frameworks and business value feasibility studies with a primary focus on Digital Engineering management and AWP technology and practices. Notably, Carl worked with Worley on the BHP South Flank Project to advance Digital Strategy and Delivery, coordinating data interfaces between the engineering consultant, construction contractor and asset owner.
In a previous role, Carl also managed the APAC region for iConstruct, introducing Digital Engineering technologies and principles to international companies within South Korea and Japan including SK E&C, Samsung and Chiyoda just to name a few.”
